Fellow Rotarians
It's now a little over 2 months when I first discovered John Sumailo confined
in his cage for 11 years.Sentenced to life in prison for committing the "crime" of being a
mentally retarded, under the total indifference of his neighbors and local officials
living a few meters distance of his house. What a cruel and a selfish world!
Any way, we are not here to change the world. We'll be wasting our time. So
let's try to repair things. One at the time.
And if there is one case meriting all our attention is this one. Because John
is the symbol of parental neglect and child abuse to a degree that not a fraction
of it will go unpunished in the first world. I made this case a priority and
promised to give John his basic dignity, the look of a human that he
will never go back to his box next to the chickens where he spent the last
11 years of his life. Look at the new pictures. I'm getting there. It took
me a hell of a time with the mother to convince her to cooperate. Frustration mixed
with diplomacy, hours of education and lecture, stick and carrot. It paid off.
The first stage of the plan, make sure that the mother is willing to help,
is a success.
I'm convinced that she is moved of this foreigner's effort to save
the life of her son and finally he is fully cooperating.John looks neat and healthy. Properly dressed and
smiling. A human being again.
Now time for the second phase. A Treatment for a partial recovery enabling
him to be self sufficient in the basic every day tasks, such as toileting,
dressing and socializing with his environment.
As you may recall, 3 weeks ago john had a psychiatric evaluation from doctor
Damplas from the Ramiro Hospital. A treatment was prescribed but we had to
discontinue it because of severe side effects in his stomach.
We are now about to consider other solutions such as injections instead of
tablets.
Next week I'll post a report about the little girl Mary Jean. She will undergo
a blood test this Thursday coming.
Thanks for all your help and attention

Thanks for your time.
Many of you sow the PP presentation in AU and donated. I asked a budget for treatment. It was denied. Even the food (Some rice and sardines) was cut off. The VAP abandoned him once stopped being a cow. They switched their business to Faith Antong. More lucrative and lasting. They are only in the first surgical operation. At the rate of one dinner ball par operation..... See the numbers in this site and do the math!
